Harris Criticizes Trump's Lack of Plan, As Immigration Derails Economic Debate
The full transcript of the Harris-Trump debate on ABC Television lasted 90 minutes. Harris, as expected, was organized, thoughtful, and precise in addressing questions about cost of living and the economy, staying focused on her Opportunity Economy plan, claiming Trump had none. Trump shifted to immigration when asked about the economy and cost of living, failing to handle one issue thoroughly or convincingly. Harris highlighted Trump's focus on himself, billionaires, and Project 2025 when Trump discussed immigration. Trump's lengthy, rambling response on Project 2025 wasted time, leaving the impression he lacked a plan for America, as he offered none. This set the tone for the debate.
Global Central Banks Gear Up for Key Rate Decisions, Investors Brace for Impact
Several major central banks will hold monetary policy meetings this week, with investors preparing for potential interest rate changes in either direction.
The Federal Reserve's much-anticipated two-day meeting begins on Tuesday and is expected to be the main focus.
The U.S. central bank is likely to join others globally in initiating its own rate-cutting cycle, with the only remaining question being the size of the cut.
Traders currently expect a quarter-point cut as the most probable outcome, though as many as 41% foresee a half-point move, according to the CME's FedWatch Tool.
Meanwhile, Brazil’s central bank will hold its policy meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Bank of England, Norway’s Norges Bank, and South Africa’s Reserve Bank will follow on Thursday.
A busy week of central bank meetings will end with the Bank of Japan’s latest rate decision at the conclusion of its two-day meeting on Friday.
